Four enthusiastic, professional recorder players met each other in 2017 and have since formed a close-knit quartet which radiates their enjoyment of the art to their audience. Their repertoire spans the entire history of written music. Besides performing works by established composers, the performers don’t shy away from programming delightful easy listening music and modern compositions. They combine respectfully approached historically informed performance practice with an open mind towards modern sensibilities. During their concerts you can also expect explanations and stories about the music being performed that are both enjoyable and illuminating.
The quartet was formed spontaneously for an ad hoc occassion. Anneke Hoekman, Lies van der Grient, Stephan Esmeijer and Marit Darlang enjoyed each others musicianship so much that they opted for a continuation, a Co(h)da.
They gave their first concert on January 28 2017 in Steenwijk with their program ‘Dingen die Swingen’. Apart from having performed this program many times in the Netherlands, in October they also gave some concerts in Blockflötenzentrum Bremen. In November 2018 they introduced their second program ‘Fier!’, full of pieces to be proud of and with works by for example Praetorius, Debussy, Telemann, Hirose and Schubert.
‘ImPulse’, a piece written especially for Cohda by the composer Rieteke Hölscher, will have its premiere this autumn. New sounds and combinations of instruments will be explored in this piece.
